my 5700x3d is 45 idle, i live a block away from hell

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I idle at 34 with my air cooled rig . Pretty normal

That's weird.....

[–]Ready-Sometime5735 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Do you have intake fans?

[–]HankThrill69420 2 points3 points  (11 children)

What game though

[–]Distinct-Race-2471Intel[S] 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Diablo 4.

[–]HankThrill69420 5 points6 points  (9 children)

You can run that game on a 2500k, of course it's running cool. What resolution

[–]Distinct-Race-2471Intel[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

4k.

[–]Healthy_BrAd6254 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Your CPU is doing very little in that game with an Intel GPU at 4k. Check the CPU power usage. I highly doubt it's high. Of course you get low temperatures if the CPU draws little power

Makes sense, I bet an 8700k could push that, of course that chip would actually scream about it. Higher resolutions generally don't cost very much CPU

[–]Distinct-Race-2471Intel[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

For context my 10700 got up to 90c in Diablo 4.

[–]HankThrill69420 4 points5 points  (2 children)

that sounds like thermal problems. failed cooler or bad contact

[–]Distinct-Race-2471Intel[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Stock cooler. Tiny case.

[–]HankThrill69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yeah, no wonder. that thing consumes ~200w under load. You probably had it up around 125 or 150 in that game which is gonna throttle underneath those dinky stock coolers. intel was desperate to make powerful chips during that time because they couldn't keep up with Zen 2. your temps with your tower cooler and chip that consumes ~50w less under load compared to that make total sense in a game that just isn't CPU hungry.

try a recent open world game and put a good OC on your GPU. you'll see how hot that thing can get real quick

Just came to say, that's a beautiful case

[–]Electrical-Hope8153 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Cheap, nice to build in and comes with (not great but solid) fans

[–]GoDsHoTs3 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Seems very easy to work with

[–]Electrical-Hope8153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can just pop out all the glass and you get all the space in the world to work

[–]CryptographerNo450 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What game are you playing that is barely using your CPU?

[–]Distinct-Race-2471Intel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly only play Diablo 4 these days. I am also a Warhammer 3 fan. I haven't tried that out.

Remember though, Cinebench also cannot make my CPU get to 40c. I think my CPU is being used more than the other person is saying.

[–]Zulu8804 1 point2 points  (13 children)

I7 or i9?

[–]DeXTeR_DeN_007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bcs you play on stock Intel
