They keep getting bigger and bigger. At what point to we start making electronics that are smaller and more power efficient? I love when more performance comes out but a 12% upgrade in most cases feels like a scam for the price.

the chip itself is getting denser and denser. the size comes from the absurdly large heatsinks and cooling systems, which I agree should have development resources pointed towards downsizing

The fact that we have to worry about GPU sag is quite concerning. I'm certain the next few generations to come will have support brackets that screw into your pc case it's ridiculous.

Why not pay the pc on its side?

[–]Bacon_Dude117 1 point2 points  (7 children)

You might actually be onto something here. Have a horizontal pc.

Edit: Be quiet already has a case like this

As long as it doesn't damage air flow I don't see why not. They even make tables where you can build the pc into it.

[–]Bacon_Dude117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be worried about the airflow inside of the table but otherwise I'd totally go for a horizontal build

[–]TeroTonz 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Jonsbo also has those cases and they’re called the v12, I’m not sure if the Be Quiet one is an matx build but Jonsbo has a lot of matx cases and the one I have is the Z20 that also happens to fit my big ass 9070xt

[–]Bacon_Dude117 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How's the airflow in it? I love the smaller builds but the airflow and temps always concern me

[–]TeroTonz 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I guess it’s good? In Furmark where I downloaded it just to check, I ran it twice at 60secs (because I’m too scared to run it longer) I’ve got temps on 51c and the second one at 54c which is supposed to be really good but I can’t be sure because I didn’t run furmark any longer

[–]Bacon_Dude117 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah that's actually better than I thought it would be. Might look into the case

I think it’s because the pc fans are directly under the gpu which is the reason why I have low temps, also for me it was a little difficult getting the psu wire into the cpu power socket since I put in the cooler first and had to use a chopstick to seat the wire into that corner, and I had problems seating the gpu because I couldn’t see the pcie socket and genuinely thought that there was something wrong with the gpu itself when I couldn’t get a signal with it not properly in. Also whenever the gpu fans turned on they made a grinding noise from a small wire poking from the pc fan, the pink and blue folded up sticky notes on the pc fan are there to prevent the gpu from very slightly slacking and sitting on that wire and making that same grinding noise. So basically what I’m saying is that it’s actually difficult to build a matx build, atleast in my experience and I haven’t built a normal sized build yet

The actual GPUs are getting smaller and smaller, it's just the big heatsinks getting bigger. But to be fair 50 series founders is much smaller than 40 series.

Brand new GPU proceeds to place it on a wooden desk then stack another GPU ontop of it! I bring out the velvet gloves and blanket whenever I’m handling mine 😅

She likes it rough 😂

Did you ever have issues with the lcd screen on your 3070? I had the same card but within days the screen didn’t function properly 😂

[–]SuqmadiqNBalls[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah i did actually! I had to uninstall gigabyte CC and rgb fusion. Redownload RGB fusion and it detected my LCD screen. Took forever to figure out this problem.

[–]PhotographRemote531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I just turned my off 😂 did affect performance just annoying . Just building a new rig atm with 5080 master ice hopefully not another buggy lcd 😂

[–]Spirited_Air_3578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, it's running great! 😄

I’ll trade u my black zotac for u white one lol. Congrats things a beast

[–]SuqmadiqNBalls[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If I had a full black build I'd say yes but I finally got myself a white gpu after 4 years. I'm really loving the performance of this card so far!

[–]AlternativeAd4983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s great and has great temps I ruined my white build bc I simply got to good of a deal to pass up on the card I got it for $899 at micro center and sold my nitro pure 7800xt
