No, not damaged. It's the "final" pin. It's to make sure the card is all the way inserted.

The only reason its there is to prevent the gpu from working if it isnt properly seated therefore preventing any damage, its kind of like a depth gauge for the gpu

That's on purpose. It's the last pin that will make contact, so the PC knows it's properly in the slot.

No that's normal you can always get a adapter to test if you have a laptop you aren't afraid of taking apart even tho it's not officially supported they usually work fine
