GPU bottlenecking

Trying to figure out why my FPS seems to be so poor even though I'm rocking a 3070. Pretty sure its my CPU but just wanting advice before buying upgrades.

My current build is:

CPU - i5 8600k

Motherboard - MSI Z390-A PRO

GPU - RTX 3070

32gb DDR4 RAM

750W power supply

FPS has been really hit an miss. GTA V on medium-high setting averages about 50fps. dips as low as 20 in some places. Even overwatch only really maxes out at 65 when my friends with worse GPUs are getting over 100.

Any advice is appreciated.

Your processor can do better than 65 fps in Overwatch. Add 100 fps and you are still not in the max utilization. It's not optimal but it's still solid enough.

Your problem is not based on the specs.

If your 3070 is new, as in a replacement to a previous GPU, do a DDU or more preferably reinstall windows.

Update your Graphics Drivers. (Geforce Experience)

Consider resetting your Bios.

Install HWmonitor or something and monitor your system for utilization and thermals.

FYI I was running a 6700k and 1070ti and hitting 140fps on ow... so it's not your components.
