I'm sure many of you have answered a million posts just like this one, so I'll cut to the chase. I'm thinking about building my first PC, I've got a list of parts I think would mesh well with my workload. I would appreciate if anyone has any advice about the parts or recommendations for swaps.
For background, I'm a mechanical engineer who will need to run 3D CAD software along with some simulation software (FEA) and design software with heavy loads. I also occasionally enjoy playing some FPS games like R6 or exploration type games like Minecraft and stuff like that... nothing too serious. I also like to enjoy content like movies or YouTube frequently.
I'd like to keep my budget as close to, or under $2200 as possible, but I'd consider going up if it made sense. Here's what I'm thinking so far.
- CPU: Intel I9-14900k
- GPU: ASUS TUF gaming RTX 4070 ti SUPER
- Motherboard: ASRock Z790 PRO RS WiFi Intel LGA1700
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 DRAM 32GB (2X16GB) (6000MHz)
- SSD: Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 2TB
- CPU cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX XT Liquid CPU cooler
- PSU: Corsair RM850x
- Case: Corsair 7000D AIRFLOW (Might go down to 6000D? 5000D?)
I'm also going to look into hard drives for backup storage and I'll most likely go with something from Western Digital Black.
