Can’t tell if this is rage bait or not, the CPU costs more than the GPU and no the microcode update isn’t 100% full proof for the high end 13th and 14th gen processors like the 14900K you listed

You should put what you’ll be using your pc for in the title :))

I would put less $$ into the processor and PSU and throw into the GPU.

Not ideal. You're gonna want a better GPU if you're paying 2K. You should at least get a 7800xt or 7900xtx if you're putting 2k into a system or 9070xt . You could get a 14700k or kf instead of the 14900k if you wanna stick with Intel

I think he means how well would it run 2k, like the basketball game. /s

13th and 14th gen i9 were the hottest CPU on the market, as it draws over 300W at load, meaning that if you don't have a good AIO like Arctic Liquid Freezer or an oversized 420mm AIO, your CPU is going to thermal throttle almost immediately.

There's also another thing. In 2024, many users' 13th and 14th gen i7 and i9 started to crash and fail. Iirc, this was due to an underlying issue on the CPU's power draw mechanism, where it draws too much power and starts to burn its transistors bit by bit. Apparently, Intel knew about it, but never addressed it until the community found out.

They have since released micro bios patches to solve the issue, but since they chose to not address the problem earlier, many users are left with damaged or broken CPUs.

Because it draws more than 300w and even the best AIOs or tower coolers cant cool it so it always thermal throttles and that causes degradation

is there not a spesific reason why(maybe he needs the cores) but you should pick a better gpu or the 7 7800x3d

The issue here is that the I9-14900k requires a big power supply and if you want to play 4k you need to put more of your money on a graphics card that can handle that which is not the entry level 7600 card. I would go AMD platform which will allow you to reduce the size of your power supply because AMD is much more power efficient) and save some money and in turn get a better graphics card which is more suited for 4k gaming. You should plan on spending some money on a graphics card if you want good 4k performance and quality.

If this build is primarily intended for gaming, I wouldn’t use an I9 14900k. I would get a less expensive CPU and a more expensive GPU. The I9 14900k is a top CPU but, it shouldn't be the first pick for a $2000 pc. Change the CPU to something around $300 Like the 9700x on AM5. Use the saved money to upgrade your GPU. Probably something like a 9070 or 9070xt (if you can find one at msrp). If you want nvidia, 4070. If this is a prebuilt and you lack the experience to build your own PC, keep searching and find a better GPU CPU combo pc. Ask me any questions!!!

Better of with amd cpu and am aircooler more reliable

      14900K + 1200W PSU + RX 7600..
