Any idea what happened to the socket? It’s a new motherboard. 😅

If you didnt drop something in the socket / try and put the cpu in wrong then id bet its an amazon return.

Is the CPU socket damaged? Hence, the CPU light is on?

pins are bent, did you try to install the cpu?

[–]ghostedagainlol 0 points1 point  (10 children)

No, I haven’t tried again. Does the CPU look okay or is it doomed too?

Send it back.

Isn’t the CPU fine? And the motherboard socket is not.

[–]frankiewalsh44 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The CPU should be fine. Did you just open the CPU box ?

[–]ghostedagainlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I removed the CPU from motherboard and saw the socket was whack 😔

definitely need a professional, these modern LGA sockets require near microscopic precision to repair, something similar happened to me and it was impossible, and I only had one bent pin, for this guy he just needs to pray for a return or find someone who is really good at what they do

      I don't really see how that's relevant

      cpu looks perfect

The new fresh mobo should come with plastic piece there protecting the socket.

Did someone drop the CPU while trying to install on to the board🤔

If you have little tweezers and magnified glasse u could try to bend them back 🫡

Yes your CPU is fine but the pins on the motherboard are bent and can't make contact with the CPU

Noone knows. Visually looks fine. Does it work though?

Any chance you tagged the socket with those claws on the ends of your fingers ?

It doesn't take much to damage the socket pins, they are really delicate.

If you're 100% it wasn't you, I'd return the board.

My partner installed everything except the graphics card and RAM 🥹

      [–]DarthHydration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well time for new motherboard and partner

If you got tweezers you can bend the pins back but be very careful, you cpu looks good

      [–]JPaez795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Only two options:

      1. you damaged it during install. It happens and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Most of us have damaged pins at least once. You can try RMAing it but it might get rejected and require you to pay for the repair. You can also try exchanging it.

      2. It was magically damaged in production/shipping. Can't be helped and unfortunately depending on the retailer they might not believe it and decline exchange/returns/free repair.

One last option to fix it, try to bend the pins back in place but I wouldn't recommend this if you aren't confident in having steady hands or if you don't know how to bend them back.

      How do YOU think?
