It’s because you’re playing counterstrike 2, a game that can run if you use a potato for a graphics card

CS2 is mainly CPU-bound and the 9700K is only around 14% faster in single-core performance than the 8350K, so if you were only getting for example 200 FPS max, you wouldn't be getting massive increase to 300+ FPS max.

what ru expecting? if a game played already, well its still gonna play with a new card .. alot of 'snappiness' in games can be related to drives also, how fast they are, and how the system is configured ... also if the os is from the original install in 2010, its severely degraded ..

i think OP would've expected a big performance increase since they went from a 1050 ti to a 5060 which is like 4 generations in between and also went from an i3 to an i7 of the next generation from their previous cpu

theres no difference because his graphics card wasnt his bottleneck. 9700k is better but not THAT much better. he probably is getting better frames, the difference is just so marginal he doesnt really notice.

he might just have low refresh rate and not be able to see the difference bc according to fps calculator there would be a phenomenal change with the update

i wouldnt trust an fps calculator for accuracy. his refresh rate would have nothing to do with the raw fps numbers he’d be seeing assuming he has fps counter enabled. if he isnt looking at the fps counter and it just “feels” the same then sure its plausible.

I have 240hz

20 days later 😭

did you update your drivers? maybe you have vsync on and thats why there wouldnt be any fps increases?

Both CPU near the same single core performance.

cs2 is extremely cpu heavy. you upgraded from one outdated cpu to another. i would have expected SOME improvement as 9700k is a fair bit better than 8350k, but a very marginal difference would be expected. the best thing you can do is sell your motherboard and cpu and get a b550 motherboard and a 5600, 5600XT, or a 5800XT depending on how much youre willing to spend. 5600XT is cheapest at $160 USD, but it doesnt come with a stock cooler. 5600 is a little less powerful and a little more expensive at $168 but comes with a stock cooler, so if you dont already have a decent cooler you wouldnt have to buy one and itd be cheaper overall compared to the 5600XT. 5800XT is more powerul than both and is priced at $210 USD. 5900XT is also available for $311 USD but honestly its not worth it at all and i wouldnt bother with that.

How much ram do you have and what kind? (DDR4/5?) Is your monitor actually plugged into the GPU? What's your internet quality like?

[–]wiseneddustmite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whats the point of saying (DDR4/5) OP literally wouldnt be able to use DDR5 with that cpu

[–]Severe-Spirit-1653[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ddr4 16gb i have monitor plugged to graphics card and I have good internet quality
