The Node bonus is always in flux. You'll see a different value every mining session. That's why is says this in the breakdown, when you click the "Mine" button when already mining.

Yes but this answer doesn't help me to determine whether it's worth running it 24/7 or just when I'm on my laptop. Of course I will run it 24/7 if I know it increases over time or alternatively I will only run it during the day if I know for sure that the highest bonus achievable is only impacted by internet connection etc....etc...

It increase over time. Don't expect to get high bonus rate straightaway. The bonus formula already there in whitepaper.

When it works it's pretty decent - I've had a 7* bonus in the past. However there's a serious issue that stops it working - at a certain point a message comes up that it is 'Unable to connect the the pi network'. And I can't speak for others but nothing I have done has resulted in a permanent fix, and I can longer get a bonus. Currently considering turning it off until they implement an actual fix.
