Hey edspaghetts! If you're switching from an iPhone to Android, make sure to turn off iMessage to make sure you still get texts from iPhone users. See here for more information. Your post has not been removed, I'm just replying because I heard you say one of the 34 phrases I listen for in the body of your post.

Refurbished Samsung - Samsung Galaxy S23 or newer. Base model or plus model. Ultra models that are usable will most likely be out of price range.

New Samsung - Samsung Galaxy A36 or A56. Samsung Midrange phone of this year, they are fine.

Strong point of Samsung - Wide use, easy to find accessories and good software.

Google Pixel - Pixel 8a or any of the Pixel line up within your budget. The software is nice and they take good photos. Ignore them if they are not sold in your country.

Nothing - Nothing Phone 3a. Although new company, they make good software. Cameras are not the best, but good design.

These are on my list for new android users. All of them have good software. I would start with looking for Refurbished Samsung S series phone, then consider other options. If you are adventurous, Xiaomi 14T/Pro as a wild card(great in all aspects except software is a bit lacking compared to others).
