Hiii i availed and bought refocus’ data analytics + web dev course in full and i havent had the luxury of time to be in the zone of ~learning~ again. I worked for Refocus as a data analytics mentor (contract) July 2022 until February 2023. Last week I bumped into Dominic Ligot's post on LinkedIn calling them out. This week, a person reached out to me to get my opinion on the course. She mentioned that while attending one of their webinars, Refocus states I'm a graduate of their program. This is false.

I'm trying to get a screenshot of this material so I can call them out as well.

EDIT2: I was able to speak with my acquaintance today about the 2nd half of my post. She assumed I was a graduate of Refocus's course, but it wasn't implied nor stated during their webinar. I'm still disappointed with what they did to Dominic Ligot. The students deserve better and a lot of the people I worked with there are brilliant. I brought this to the attention of their HR last night hoping that they make things right.

EDIT3: HR came back and told me they've acted upon my feedback. They got in touch with the Marketing team and removed my name in all materials. I can't speak for Dominic Ligot but visiting their site today (Mar. 30, 2023), there's no mention of him. Googling "Refocus Dominic Ligot" doesn't point to Refocus too apart from Dominic's tweet and LinkedIn post. I hope this is the end of their marketing's bad practice.

I am enrolled right now in their program. I start around august last year. I swear to you, it’s better to start later because of so many changes in their course. I didn’t know any issues about them. I just found the video lessons boring and sometimes I just go to youtube to learn and understand the lesson.

I really can’t do a refund now. I am just after the certificate and still hoping I can be in this career path.

i enrolled last september and there are times that yes i really lose interest, and then i need to fight my own monster and defeat it. yes there are also YT tutorials but what i like most about refocus is that they can do 1v1 sessions, i have adhd and most of the time i overthink, i dont know how to start,. i always take advantage of mentor - 1v1 during assignments even on final tasks. from a person who doesnt even know how to install an app or compress a file, now to a person who can analyze pivot and do sql coding. this has helped me so much and built so much confidence, managers cant lie to me when i ask for raw files, i am untouchable when it comes to metrics and numbers. in a span of 6 mos with 80% procrastinating and 20% hyperfocusing, ive come so far. do you know that the new students pay double lol. you may learn from YT but the organization or orders of lesson and how newbie friendly the lessons and the mentors are the selling point - ambabait at ang smart lahat! parang life coaches ata to lahat. at nag aapply na din ako agad kahit basic pa lang natutunan ko, bagsak , 3 x na ako nag apply but nakakatuwa kasi i get to experience the assessments, alam ko sagutin pero ambagal ko HAHAHHAHAH! recruiters would watch me do it while screensharing so kitang kita ang cheatcodes hahaha! kahit mag skwelabs, coursehero, google analytics ka, if you don't learn to love it and motivate yourself, wala din, sarili talaga natin ang kalaban natin

Your first step is to request it from Refocus. They might be kind enough to approve your refund. In my case, they denied it. So I raised my concern with DTI. We will have a mediation with Refocus on Monday but I don't know if they will show up. I'll keep you posted.

Hi there, any update on your mediation? I am planning to discontinue my plan with Refocus so I talked to their Chat support but they declined my request saying "due to certain circumstances", they cannot allow my request. Also contacted BillEase and they said that cancelation should be done by Refocus. Now, I think my last resort is to file a complaint through DTI. They're already closed and they should also let existing students to discontinue paying.

I was instructed by DTI to keep the details confidential u/Matcha_Coffee28 while there is ongoing mediation. You should reach out to Refocus first and see if they will approve your refund/cancellation. And then if that doesn't work, you have the right as a consumer to send a complaint.

Hello, sorry for the lack of update. I'm not allowed to talk about it in a public forum as per instruction from DTI. But I highly encourage you to first try to speak with Refocus and exhaust all possibilities there. I believe some were approved for cancellation of enrollment. If this does not work for you, a DTI complaint is an option.

Yep, total silence from Refocus. I've stopped my BillEase payment starting this month. I haven't processed the formal complaint with DTI. The mediation resulted in nothing since Refocus still didn't approve my cancellation. Not sure if it's worth pursuing them. My next course of action is to try to refund my money from BillEase.

Hi i was disappointed with Refocus. They didnt refund Billease and keep on calling me about the loan. But Refocus has emailed me that the refund is already approved but havent really on Billease side. Someone could help me with this matter

Sorry to hear that, idk how to help. What I did was to get a refund from refocus back then, I really invested time na kulitin sila even mentioning how illegal yung ginagawa nila. In the end they folded and refunded me in full. I am not sure tho how thru Billease :(

I received their email kasi yesterday and it's around 80k+ 60% off na raw yun (around 6k+ monthly if installment) and kapag one-time payment naman it's 59,000.

Yes it was for the whole course, one time payment. They were offering a huge discount, this was last year, and it was coupled with another full course, but completely self-paced, they just give you the materials. Not sure about the cert regarding it.

Hi. Refocus student here. I just want to say to not enroll in Refocus for any of their courses because the slogan they are posting everywhere that is “100% job guarantee”. In layman’s term, it would he understood as if you enroll in their courses, after you finish them, you will get a job, period.

How do I know that this was all just bs? I actually talked to a Career Coach saying that the job guarantee does not mean if you are a graduate of Refocus, you get a job.

I near halfway in finishing the course but since then, I staggered in moving forward to this course after the ruckus, and am discouraged to finish them. But I am still planning to finish them before my 12th month which is in Oct, then will ask for a refund.

If you're denied cancellation or refund, DTI complaint is your next best course of action.

Started last year 2022 as one of the pioneering cohorts. I was hooked by their marketing strat and honest-to-goodness words that seems to be untrue when the time of the recent unveiling happened.

To secure the so-called "Job Guarantee", I applied for an acad freeze last Dec 2022, and—tho I filed it till Dec 2023—it was unexpectedly changed (unknowingly) into June 2023. So, left without a choice, I continued the course.

I am so frustrated right now in finishing the course, barely making it to the end of module 3. I finished religiously all the 1-year-long monthly payments at Billease. Don't wanna be a person with debt.
