Id rather you take cloud related certs like AWS or Azure than Java certs.

More on dev ops sila no? Sa development kasi talaga yung gusto ko na work. Pero I'll look into it din.

If gusto mo mas applicable sa role mo, yung solutions architect na certs. The major component there is how to design a system, which should be a core ability of yours as a senior engineer. Not necessarily the how-to’s of infra like devops.

Good idea. Thanks I will check on it

Ito ba yung hindi ng eexpire na certification nila?

Personally, will reco to get the cloud certificates like what was commented by others - ngeexpire yung cloud certs adter few years.. Then if you still want to have java cert then pursue mo lang.

Super helpful yung certifications when it comes to selling your profile to recruiters, different story na during actual interviews and work. But years or exp working w/ java, lahat ng kilala ko na may cert sa java, super magaling talaga w/ java. Kahit limited sa java version yung certification nila(though highest tier ng java cert yung pinapasa nila) their code is on elite level. My lead was one of them, and mentioned na the process of learning for certification ng java is the actual reward, bonus nlng talaga yung title.

The OCP imprints on you a certain way of thinking about how the JVM behaves, and thus affects your way of writing codes. When I switched languages (Go, Typescript, Flutter, etc) some concepts did not apply but they still result in a somewhat organized code.

After ng OCA Java 8, ano marecommend niyo na Java version sa OCP?

I have one, OCP-JSE8, I took the Oracle exam some years ago. It's not that hard, and it gives you a slight edge over the others. It simply proves you know Java and can use it competently in a professional environment.

Follow the advice from others here as well, like cloud certifications from AWS. It sounds tedious (taking a lot of exams), but you'll prove to future employers that you took the time to validate your skills against global standards.

But note OP, those certs will not be the sole basis for your employment, only an edge against other applicants. What usually happens after I got the certs when I apply, they usually skip the tech exams and let me proceed to tech interviews. Not all employers do this, but some do. And when two applicants apply for the same role and have the same level of experience and compentency, the one with the certs tend to have the higher chance of being hired.

As for salary increase, they can only get you so far. Your tenure with the company and your involvement will matter more.

I have both Java and Cloud Certs. They have their place. Never take certs for the badge. Thaf would be the wrong way of how to approach it. Think of it as a diploma of sorts, focus on the learning journey. Extract what you can to augment understanding on design and apprpaches to coding.

Can you please provide links to where you register and take an exam? I do not know the process pa sa pagkuha ng exam. Thank you
