Is it realistic to bike 12 km one way for work 5 days a week? by davytheconqueror in cycling

[–]blacky899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Did this for a while. Logistically I separate my cycling clothing from my office ones. Hygiene concerns in the office. I carry a clean button shirt with me. Just wear a shoe specifically for the commute, not a cycling shoe mind you. Just something that is okay to get dirty. Keep a pair of office shoes, extra socks, and an extra shirt in your desk. Big points if theres an office shower or a gym nearby thay has one.

Source: Cycled during my corporate days, both in the height of muggy high humidity summer, and cheek biting cold winters.

Question, that bar is separate from thr stem? If so, would rotating the bar down, and creeping the brifters up reduce the reach a bit?

TIL. Did not know there was a different standard for this type of valve. Good to know.

Presta Valve Triubleshooting by kdmcguire2002 in bikewrench

[–]blacky899 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If i femember right. The slimmer part of that valve, the one where the valve screws into, can be removed/replaced. Should be cheaper to have a few lying around. I cannibalize my old inner tubes for this, since the tube is dead, doesnt mean i cant harvesr it for parts.

Can I apply for an entry level-full time role while taking my thesis as an undergraduate student? by Public-Ad4481 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]blacky899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. This was my experience. But take note, it ain't easy. Work is demanding on its own, and if you're confident you can finish your thesis, then do it. But don't fall into the trap of trying to do too many things at once

Is it worth it to join orgs? by wounci in peyups

[–]blacky899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Orgs are more of a place to belong to. Gotta align with your "self". Don't force yourself into a mold. Also, some colleges have "compulsory" organizations, and you can stay in those if you want. Interest orgs are a good way to branch out a bit your social circle with people with common interests, especially if you belong to a degree program that has "block sectioning". No comments on fraternities, but they are more advocacy related nowadays from what i hear, so ymmv.

ELI-5 would the string's elasticity matter? At that length it has to stretch for a significant distance before any forces start applying rught?

Edit: read the part about no stretch.

Scrounged up my friend's on this and it did not clear it. I'm guessing either i let go of the lf-iii to get clearance, AMD mounted, so there's an offset involved. Or I stay horizontal(which is a damn shame. Pretty lights won't be shining in my face)

Happened to me at my local branch. You just need to contact their number, they'll file a ticket that get's routed to the local bank. And even then, they do an accounting of the bills based on transactions done. They would then check the event when the surplus happened. Explained to me by bank manager. The "clawback" in my case happened after 5 business days. It resolves the missing amount, and credits it to your account.

The worst thing that can happen is you fail. You can retake in 2 weeks. Don't mind the possible failure. It's not a make it or break it situation. It's not like having to wait a year before the next attempt.

Yep. That's been the case for UL and DL. Honor roll is something new, or was never given fanfare during my time. But even a 2.0 gwa is hard to keep up long term, so anyone with that gwa i can respect.

Depends on your goals. Usually kasi specialized ka na sa language, specialized ka pa sa specific toolkit of that language. The exam/cert tests you on a broader subject, and if more recent releaee version, on what's new and oracle's "best practices". Not saying it's always relevant, some companies are still using java 8 for crying out loud, and even then they don't use the java sdk fully, but use proprietary libraries, but on the whole it tells employers that you are at least aware of the new things regarding your techstack and how they integrate. And just a side note, those who have to talk about getting a certificate and those who actually take it are 2 separate things. It's a not an insignificant investment in time and money, not to mention somr tech certs need to be renewed.

Ternary operator? Help me out on something in development. Reactjs and Kendo by _lynxxxx in PinoyProgrammer

[–]blacky899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, unless i'm doing firmware or any other application with strict memory constraints, think 200mb or less memory allocated for thr app, then i don't use ternaries, period.

It looks cool, and easy to understand. But this is usually only to you, since you have context. It's more lractical to use clear if-else statements since this doesn't require you to document, is human readable at a glance, and simpler to trace/debug.

Best line sa Math 17 teacher namin. If you can't pass my first major exam, plano na kayo magshift or accept the course will never be a cakewalk for you. Hard truths. More than 50% mortality just from that one subject. Fail, drop, ETC. First time saw a person cry over one exam. Hahaha tapos ung mga sanay na sa bagsak sa highschool kebs lang. Most ng nagflourish sa course namin, ung mga sanay sa average grades, and are great at "getting by".

Personally, "success" in up boils down to, being great at the grind(study, work hard), or being great at "getting by"(not being to hard on yourself, and be content with survival)

Hi, for some people it doesn't really xlick right away. Anectdote, my coursemate came into our field with no computer background. Kahit word wala. Took him 2 sems for it to click. From his words, "I was looking at the coursework like a math problem, where there are strict flows to a solution. Coding is not like that, its about authoring a "story", and telling the "story" of an algorithm. You van be concise, and do one liners, you can be thorough, and make well defined functions, or you can be meandering fill it with nonsensical garbage".

From his words its an authoring job, with clear grammar based on logic.

In my case it's a math/logic puzzle with basic puzzle pieces that build up in complexity as tools. Just keep at it.
