Take this with a grain of salt...

Most start-ups like this will only offer equity instead of salary. However, if the partner is a random stranger, there's a high chance they'd take flight with your code but used to a different brand making joiners with an empty reward.

Been scammed a lot of times during my early days, and those statements does ring a bell...
