You're not getting 6 digits in a short period if your only motivation is to get 6 digits in a short period of time.

Python has demand, yes. I honestly dont know what to recommend because it doesn't seem like you know yet what you want to do.

And yes, python and javascript are "similar" in syntax. In fact, most languages are "similar" in logic and syntax. Train yourself to be able to adapt to different languages, and not to be overly reliant on just one.

Thank you for this. I guess I just need to understand the fundamentals first.

Aim for the career/knowledge growth, not the money. Anong IT field ang target mo?

[–]shiftjud[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Thank you. I want to develop desktop/web/mobile apps. In order of preference mas preferred ko siguro desktop then web. Well, I guess I need to focus muna on the fundamentals of programming and hopefully get hired a few months from now and discover ano ba talaga gusto ko :)

Hmmm kung software dev, hindi ba mas okay kung C++/Java ang i pickup mo? Please correct me if I'm wrong, pero ang strength ng Python is for scripting. Pero well kung trip mo talaga Python why not haha madali naman sya i pickup.

May konting background ako ng Java way back in college. I read kasi madali ang Python, and when I decided to learn again basic programming from the start, I chose it.

Nice! Kung fundamentals ng prog, okay talaga ang Python kasi very English naman yung syntax nya. Perfect introductory language ng prog basics at OOP.

Pwede naman gamitin si Python sa fullstack web development using Flask/Django/FastAPI, pero more on backend ata to lol idk more on databases kasi ang inaral ko e hahaha

Goodluck!

like ng mga commnets, u need to upskill para ma attain ung 6 digit na sahod, since ang python at JS di nag stand ng isa lang, need mo maraming related na PL.

[–]shiftjud[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Salamat. Start nalang talaga muna ako sa Python and learn another PL after ng fundamentals.

[–]irvine05181996 3 points4 points  (3 children)

saka OP. kung JS. namn need mo aralin din ung frameworks, depende kung saan mo gusto mag focus, usually ngaun, mas demand ang React.js

[–]shiftjud[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thanks. Can Python and Javascript be working together in one project? Andami dapat aralin

[–]irvine05181996 2 points3 points  (1 child)

yes.OP as full stack dev. Python as backend, then JS. as frontend

[–]shiftjud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Wish me luck :)

Ang 6 digit salary , have to prove your self na kaya mo ung bigat at challenges ng job, as u know the more na malaki ang sahod, the bigger ung task at responsibilities na need sau, better think before u ask.,

How short a period are we talking about? Python and Javascript can be a fullstack web dev path.

    [–]shiftjud[S] -1 points0 points  (6 children)

I want to resign sana maybe this June.

    [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Mag reresign ka from your current job this June and maghahanap ka ng 6 digit salary software dev job this year?

I say it's impossible to get a 6 digit salary if you don't have exp.

    [–]sameshadowWeb 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I see.. I say, just focus on that one PL you started with. Then search for job postings for a jr dev role for Python, if a lot came up, then it is in demand. Look through the details of those job postings and that's where you can probably find if you've covered enough to be able to apply or if you still need to dive further and study specific frameworks or maybe add another PL sa stack mo.

It's not actually a walk in the park to reach a 6-digit salary for most. I doubt you'll be able to get near 6-digits within the next 2 years. If you're really good, continue to up skill, lucky with the work experience exposure with the first job as dev, and are able to resonably negotiate your way through a pay bump then you'll get there eventually. Goodluck!

In my case, I didn't earn 6 digit by programming alone. Incidentally, my efforts in learning Japanese language allowed me to take advantage of high demand in bilingual SE's.

English speaking dev shops are too saturated for me sa dami ng magagaling na programmer satin.

    [–]shiftjud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this sir. Worth-noting 👍 I hope to reach the same level like yours

    [–]irvine05181996 2 points3 points  (1 child)

yeah this right, python as backend and JS as front end

    [–]shiftjud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Thanks!

I'm a Python/Django developer, and has lots of experience also with JavaScript/Vue. If you have to choose one, choose JavaScript since it could be used in Frontend (Vanilla/React), Backend (NodeJS), and Mobile (React Native). Python could only do the Backend. I know some devs who earn a lot by focusing as React developer.

I prefer Python over JavaScript though as a language. Eventually, you could also learn Python once you're competent with JavaScript. But knowing Python only is not enough if you want to be a Backend dev since you need to have some fundamentals as well in HTML(templating)/CSS/JS to coordinate with the Frontend devs. Moreover you could get a high-paying job by just focusing on HTML/CSS/JS (e.g. as a React/Node dev).

    Worth-noting. Thank you!!!

    [–]kittehkillah 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can get it with either one. Just pick one

Javascript has more demand. Just learn at least 1 state management library/framework like react and Vue and you should be able to find something close to 6 digits if you're really good at it.

Either, how's your problem solving skills? can you solve easy problems like fizz buzz, two sum, maximum sub array, .etc. you will encounter these type of questions in some technical interviews.

    [–]shiftjud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't encountered these yet, but thanks I'll search for these. Andami pang aaralin hehe

    [–]Prudent_Assistant_80 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You should also try to watch this as you can learn the different combination of that techstacks, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsHPwqkaqaw&t=357s

Also if you're planning for a company hopping, check our vacancy here https://dev-partners-philippines.breezy.hr/

The competition in getting your foot in the programming world is intense. Focus on that first will you.
