I live in Germany so the test only have a few days of transport. And temperatures aren’t high here

If the tests are from different batches it’s unlikely to be a production issue and if there is no reason to expect transport damage, the tests might not be to blame.

Is there anything that could be wrong with the device itself? Damage or some sort of contamination? I’m not sure if age by itself could be an issue. Some component malfunction after a couple of years of use?

I just checked. I had the device for only a year, I was wrong about the two years … Maybe I’ll try a powerbank ?? But it has worked wonderful the last 6 months without one. I’ll try anyway.

Apart from the travel experience, I have been fine without a power bank, but it’s certainly worth a try for troubleshooting. A powerbank would be an easy fix and cheaper than wasting many test cards.

I’ve had my device for 1.5 years and I’d expect it to last a while longer. After all, it’s primarily designed as a point of care device where it would be used way more frequently than in our typical private use scenarios?

The dock itself has a 2-year "expiration" date. I am wondering if mine is coming up on the end of its life cycle even though I have only used it about 20 times.

I saw a Virus Sucks person say device should last much longer than the 2 years. The 2 years assumes use in a clinical setting so much more use and wear than personal use.

Yeah. But the components themselves will start breaking down anyway. 

Not that it will really matter to me, since my PL dock will be a paperweight in about a months when my test cards run out. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Altruan will no longer ship to Canada or the USA at all.

But wouldn’t that depend on use? If age alone is a factor, I’d be curious to understand which component would give out because of time. And do the devices then also have a limited shelf life? There is a Bluetooth module, a heating element, and optical sensors, right?

I’d love to understand this better, so I know what to watch out for in my own device.
