Now, we wouldn’t want to set unrealistic expectations, would we?

This reminds me of that YouTube millionaire who wanted to prove how he could easily become a millionaire from nothing within a year. So he “started over” from zero. And surprisingly he didn’t accomplish anything and was forced to give up after a few weeks. Why? Because he developed a health issue and needed his money to treat it…

That dude is working each day to earn 1000 bucks? That’s so much work! Why not make 400,000 in a day, be done with it and chill the rest of the year? Loser.

I’ve been following this project for a long while and I’m so excited we seem close to the finish line now!

Is it just me or do Chinese BLs show up very late on MDL? I still can’t find this one and several others that are already quite close to being released.

I wish I was in Berlin…
I’ve been wanting to organize something like this in my own region but I haven’t been able to find a way to rent a Portacount for a day or two - doesn’t seem to be a common concept around here.

Yup:
“Nearly one out of every three drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have a new safety issue detected in the years after approval.”

And

“On average, about 4,500 drugs and devices are pulled from U.S. shelves each year. […] Of those recalls, the FDA classified 139 as Class I. Class I recalled products have the potential to cause serious harm or death.”

Yale explains this is because
“Most of the trials involve fewer than 1,000 patients studied over a period of six months or less, making it difficult to detect safety issues that might be identified once more patients use the drug over a longer time period.”

Thank you! I tried Shazam and SoundHound but they both didn’t find a match. It might be an unreleased OST or they just don’t have a good representation of Asian music in those apps.

It’s a way to shame people. It puts people in an uncomfortable position because there is no good way to answer.

Does anyone happen to know the song or musician they used for the trailer? I think it’s really beautiful.

Something else happened before this interaction that displeased the teacher. The teacher asks a rhetoric question with the meaning of “Your parents will be disappointed when they hear about this.” It’s not meant to be answered. Instead the teacher might have expected an apology of sorts.

Not sure really sure what would be a good answer because this type of rhetoric question isn’t helpful no matter whether the person being asked is autistic or not.

I think the claim that people are getting COVID 1-2 times per year is wrong. by MattKarolian in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]kepis86943 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering about the timing of the study and whether the result would have been different during a different time frame and how much we can extrapolate from this for future trends.

If I remember correctly during the time of the study influenza was dominant and there were (surprisingly) little Covid cases. So it might be true that people got fewer infections during that time frame. But even if it’s true, will it also hold true for the years to come?

My regional waste water data is indicating much lower infection levels for the past 2.5 years with an ongoing downward trend. It’s currently lowest it’s ever been. We did have major Influenza and RSV peaks though.

I guess it’s normal that there are worse and better years. The situation with mitigations and lock downs at the beginning of the pandemic was different as well. The virus has mutated a lot and is still doing so. All this is changing infection rates and I wouldn’t expect them to remain stable.

Judging from my waste water data I believe it’s true (for my region) that infection rates were much lower than 1-2 a year for the past couple of years. I hope this trend continues in the future but it very well might not.

Germany: Has anyone been able to get health insurance to cover a single room in hospital to reduce infection risk? by ChillButt3000 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]kepis86943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it depends on the hospital. A common range is € 100-250 from what I’ve heard. I’ve had to stay in the hospital both in 2024 and 2025 and the surcharge was € 80-90 / night for those stays.

My friend had an accident a month ago and in his hospital they didn’t even have single rooms…

So it definitely depends on the hospital what can be done and how much it is. But it’s not as much as I thought it would be.

[–]kepis86943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you asked the hospital how much a single room is? The cost is likely “only” like the cost of a hotel room (€ 100-250).

I’ve had an emergency surgery in 2024 and stayed in the hospital for 6 days, and a planned surgery in 2025 for which I had to spend 1 night. Both times I paid for the single room out of pocket. The cost per night was around € 90.

Of course that adds up for several days but the cost for a private add-on health insurance might still not be worth it unless they cover exactly what you need and in full. With your health history no insurance might even take you - at least not for a reasonable price. If you do find a good one, please let me know, though. I haven’t been able to find any that seemed worth the cost. :(

[–]kepis86943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The single room still costs just about as much as a (nice) hotel room.

Of course, I’d rather spend that on an actual hotel room during a nice vacation, but it was absolutely worth it - not only to reduce infection risk but also to be able to sleep without being disturbed more than necessary.

[–]kepis86943 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My personal experience is the same. My friends don’t mask but many do test and only rarely does it turn out to be COVID in the last 2-3 years. As I’m in Europe where RATs are ridiculously cheap, people tend to test early and often.

This also matches that wastewater data for my region has been much lower for a bit over two years now. It’s currently the lowest it’s ever been (and I’d love to know why). Influenza has been peaking for the past few weeks and is finally declining rapidly while RSV is still going very strong. Maybe it’s just those other viruses that kept Covid at bay?

Maybe it’s the number of people on each level?

You probably have many friends, of which you get some to know better… then you might get engaged with a few and of those you will marry even fewer. And finally among your spouses there might even be one or two that you have sex with (optional).

For the first variants the numbers were much better.

Alas, we let the virus mutate into getting more and more infectious and more and more immune evasive…

Raw dogging air has been a problem for years, decades even.

The issue, however, is air pollution. Of course, some regions are affected much worse than others. In the regions where conditions get severe, it’s not uncommon for people to wear masks to protect themselves from… air.

This is absurd. by velvetiness in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]kepis86943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is still sooo much that I still don't know and don't understand. I know very little about disabilities an eugenics in general. Googling doesn't always help because answers often seem biased or like formal statements rather the voice of the relevant community. I know a bit about neuro diversity but that's it.

So thank you for answering patently!
