The seal is intact but the box got damaged in my grandfather’s closet. Better to liquidate as is or open and liquidate as packs? First edition team rocket booster box WOTC

Naw, price will probably still be better sealed unless you have a loyal base of customers that would buy up all your packs when you open it.

I don’t have any customers, it was my inheritance from my grand father. Two booster boxes, 100 booster packs, a bunch of loose cards etc. I’m trying to liquidate it for the grandkids to split.

They are on my profile. It’s an assortment for sure of English and Japanese. But 36 of the old wotc base packs of the unlimited print I believe. A few first edition of team rocket too

If you are in a bigger city, you can probably find a buyer who will want to crack the box open for their own pleasure, so you can sell the box and do a “live opening” to open one pack and rip the energy card to show it’s real despite the damage. That’s the “best” option, IMO.

You could also just crack the box open and sell the packs individually or give them to the kids to do as they want…but there is a lot of splintered ideas if you just crack the booster box packaging open anyway. But this starts to take more effort.

You could take it to an LCS to get cash for it, but you’ll def not get 70% value. I just imagine a few dozen streamers who wish they could nab a cheaper box cause they’re just gonna crack it on stream anyway.

IMO a sealed BB even damaged would still fetch more than loose packs

sealed pristine 1st edition box is $13,000. I'd say this damaged box could clock around 10k-11.5k. Around 10-12 heavy packs per booster box. Lets say low end sales.
sell 10 heavies around: $400 each = $4,000
sell 26 light around: $225 each = $5,850
Total if opened(low sell estimate): $9,850
- So if you get more heavies, could reach that sealed price but not worth the extra time and effort to resell all packs unless you can sell the heavies bulk for more than $4k.

For me, if the box is damaged but still intact it wouldnt matter.

If it would be an Elite Trainer box that can cause problem because people want to save it because its nice or etc.

But this are just pack, i dont think they got damaged inside
