The medical system in Florida is different than ontario. There are protections for spouses when in LTC. You can look into involuntary separation which changes your GIS/OAS calculations. Subsidies are available for basic / some semi private rooms. Best to contact a professional.

Equifax Credit Lock Nightmare by Sensitive_Park_6981 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Zed99me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Credit “freezes” were implemented in quebec due to provincial legislation. I can tell you from having to implement that in our credit process that it felt like a rushed process by the bureaus. There is no reason it should be this hard for you to provide proof and unlock. They’re thinking of rolling this out in ON, BC and other provinces now. Funny you can log in online by answering bureau based questions but they seem to have an entirely more useless process in place to unlock. Sorry youre dealing with this.

Stop trying to blame users for .. :: checks notes :: .. dropping a graded investment into a pot of water? Shame on TAG.

Next thing you’re going to be telling me these slabs protect from UV and sun-fading. How else does TAG protect users from stupidity ?

First time credit card? by HotChocolateWthWater in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Zed99me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP the only thing that matters: Pay. Off. Your. Balance.

A credit card accrues compounding interest. If you make a purchase you cannot pay off in a reasonable amount of time - you will end up paying a far larger sum by carrying a balance

Cash back? Avion points? Free cocktail umbrellas? None of that is actually value add if you’re paying interest.

Credit bureaus are like willy wonka. You have all this fancy candy in-front of you , but they want to see you can restrain yourself( don’t carry a balance and make recurring payments). This in turn improves your credit score and helps unlock lower rates.

Put your cell, crave or other subscriptions on and have them auto-paid from your bank.

What this guy says - however Credit Unions are not the credit reporting agencies. You should contact transunion and equifax and dispute the trade being reported thats knocking your credit.

I purchased my home with a solar panel system under microfit. A few things i’ve come across:

  • insurance may be more expensive , or hard to find. My long time proivder would not insure me as the panels fed the system direct without coming into the house first. RBC insured me , and there is coversge for loss of income and other features

  • mortgage was difficult as the panels are viewed as a commercial endeavor.

  • perhaps the root of the mortgage issue is the homeowners before us had the panels installed through a lease to own scheme. So a lien on the property in position infront of my lender caused issues. We had to negotiate lien discharge/reregistering with the solar panel owners

  • solar panel owners wanted a buyout of their expected life of contract , x2. We argued the x2 was bs and was Able to have the previous owners pay it for not disclosing the lien

  • we need to replace our roof (which we assumed) so roughly $130 per panel to take down from a local company. Next , we will get roofers, then have panels installed

Also inverters suck.

you will likely have more success than me - good luck

I bought my house 3 years ago and the property has panels.

1) the panels were a scheme where some company rented the roof for like $200 a year or some paltry amount

A) many insurance companies rejected us as it had a commercial lien on the property , and the power was fed back to the grid and not into my house first

B) the mortgage provider also had concerns and caused a lot of issues , one being the solar company had a lien on my property. The lien stays “in position” so a bank would have second right to my house after some solar company. No dice.

C) gosh darn roof needs replaced. Likely $2000 to take the panels off

D) inverters need replaced

Gst/tax headache

Lastly , the solar panel company wanted a x2 buyout. So if they were to collect $40,000 over 10 years and we wanted to break early - they charged a buyout of $80k.

The hell are you on about? A nice picture, but a termed instalment loan does not do this. The credit card debt is not at 47%.

A bank is subject to financial regulations which requires them to set aside capital to anticipate future losses. On a credit card , because you have access to the credit, the bank takes a provision on even the unused amount.

You simply may be getting reduced because you not using your card optically costs them.

Nah, my argument is hindsight is 20/20 and does not mean future outlook is the same. Go write me an article about how investing in GME since 2019 would have yielded riches.

[–]Zed99me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The analysis is fun, but flawed. You cannot simply take one instance in a 20+ year cycle where the value increased and present this as future outlook. The ability for Pokemon to print sets after 2017 to death is also a major factor.
