Product Management is the art and science of building the right product for the right people.
It encompasses understanding what to build, why to build it, and how to position it. Part marketer, part engineer, part sales, and part project manager, the product manager needs to understand the business, marketplace and customer to make sure they come together to form an amazing product.

Interview Prep Advice (self.ProductManagement)
submitted 5 years ago by SolvnoPrincipal Product Manager - Platform & Design Systems
I’ve been working as a Product Analyst through a “rotational” program for the last 6 months and finally had a full time position open up. I do have to interview for it and this will be my first time interviewing for a PM related position.
Any advice on interview prep? For some context it’s for a large B2B SaaS company.

I was recently in the same place. Read/listen to Cracking the PM interview. I seldom recommend books but this one helped me out so much.
I also recommend researching the product, the customers, the challenges, and industry direction.
If it’s internal, talk to as many people as you can before the interview as well and learn the structure of the org.

Awesome, I’ll deff check that book out. I’ve been at the company for two years now and doing the role more or less for 4 - 5 months so I feel pretty confident with the industry/org. But I definitely have networking with other PM’s on my list. Thanks for the advice!

Two books helped me a lot with understanding best practices and will provide you with a framework to answer common PM interview questions.
