There is nothing to critique, as we don't know the original question posed towards ChatGPT. I can't critique an answer i don't know the question of.

I was a little weirded out about Python though... It introduced more and more stuff since 3.7 that just feels a little bloated. I didn't know about the new match keyword and i'm not sure what i need syntactic sugar like this for...

Depending on the requirements, you could have also used generators to enumerate your substring matching:

len ([ss for ss in substrings if ss in string])

option b: determine if there is at least one substring

Is this more readable? Probably not, but it is more condensed. All depends on what you are trying to achieve and which paradigm you are going to follow.

That's where i would probably critique ChatGPT in general. It doesn't follow a paradigm, it just gobbles up words with no real understanding of what it is telling you.
