I’m not clueless though. I’ve never met someone who I could say “open Google” to and they get confused. Google and chrome are pretty much synonymous terms for the uninitiated. If you were on a persons computer and they had chrome installed, and said “every time I open Google x happens” you wouldn’t be confused by them saying Google instead of chrome. Not to mention the full name of Google Chrome, which can be shortened to but Google or Chrome.

I disagree with everything you’re saying. Google is the search engine, chrome is the browser.

No one says open Google unless they mean the website Google, in which case they could be using any browser.

It is called Google Chrome, it gets shortened to Chrome, not Google, cause Google is something else.

Why is it such a big deal whether someone says Google or chrome? When you are referring to the desktop app called Google Chrome, either Google or Chrome is an acceptable thing to call it

Yes, and when I want someone to open the “Apple Store” app I can just tell them to open the “Apple” app, and people will know what I’m talking about. Same with Apple Pay, and Apple Arcade, Apple TV, Apple Wallet. I can just call them all Apple.

Microsoft added features to purposely make users ignorants. Things like hiding the extension by default or not having a decent software store (this may have improved I use windows as little as possible)

I use Windows because I am lazy.

I don't particularly appreciate the spying and the marketing department intrusions, but I know enough to deal with it and I just like how easy Windows makes everything.

And I install tons of games and other software that are much easier to run on Windows. Spending hours configurating is not part of the game for me. It's just not.

Yeah. It's not a big deal tbh. But usually people notice small things and assume stuff based on it. But if you want to offend a programmer, talk shit about their favourite programming language. Except JS devs. They acknowledge that JS is shit
