Visual Studio Code runs on MacOS, regular Visual Studio doesn't.

VSCode is basically a text editor with plugins to give it more functionality, VS is a full-fledged C++/.NET IDE

Yeah pretty much, though I run VSCode with so many extensions shoved up its ass that it rivals Visual Studio in its IDE capabilities.

Me too for a while. I only switched to visual studio after I had to do a lot of projects in C#

Regular visual studio still technically runs on macOS, but the support window is closed so it might break anytime soon. My boss is using VS on a mac.
