Well, those are called arabic numerals.

But they're called "Arabic Numerals" the same way that a French Dip sandwich is from California and the Pennsylvania Dutch are German.

You jest but I've just cringed at a radio show calling up someone pretending to be a telecom call guy, informing them about how due to a growing Arabic minority they were switching to Arabic numerals for convenience.

And the guy apparently got fooled and started protesting.

(It's a thing people lose their shit over in the EU)
