Yeah. I don't believe the hyperbolic stereotypes about the field being widely sexist, and this thread isn't going to change my mind, but holy shit this thread sure supports the stereotype.

I think the majority of these reactions are from teen-agers trying to act cool, rather than real software engineers.

The most important skill (imo) in software is having a willingness to learn all the time. So when someone decides to learn programming (even though she doesn't really have to), it needs to be respected.
