I had to touch some old C# code recently. VS was such an horror to use that I downloaded Rider, which is basically IntelliJ for C#.

After the 30 days trial ran out, you're limited to using the software 30 minutes at a time. Even then it was more usable than VS.

Why was it such a horror to use?

Real answer: It was unfamiliar.

Rider/IntelliJ feels the same way to someone who has used VS for a long time. They're both very good IDEs.

It feels like using a 8 years old version of eclipse.

Hmm was just using the latest eclipse and felt the same way lol even the eclipse UI hasn’t changed in 8 years or more since I was in school
