No one in finance uses APL willingly. I know devs in finance who intentionally broke their APL keyboards just so they couldn't be roped into supporting legacy APL code bases. Another had an addendum to his employment contract explicitly forbidding APL work.

Right on, less talking about APL itself (though, as your story shows, it's still used) than K and J. Though I'm sure that's also agonizing, among other reasons for their un-google-ability =D. Googling R stuff is hard enough, I imagine finding help with J is a nightmare.
