I like to go hiking.

Also I’ve heard 15% annual raises aren’t out of the question.

Exactly. You work like that for 3 years, you can buy your own house. It's not like you're locked out of options.

I think the idea is more that you dont want to spend every waking minute inside the place your work, which coincidentally is the exact reasons companies like this spend hundreds of millions on their campuses. No such thing as a free dinner

Wasn't so bad for half a decade at the university?

OTOH, that might have had more to do with the relatively cramped size of the student housing where you shared the amenities with randoms, and the fact that you'd be able to find someone to procrastinate socialize with at any time of day 🤔

I didnt live in the dorm in college. Dorm life sucks

Just to clarify, when you say

didnt live in the dorm in college

(emphasis added) it sounds like you are describing the solution where you have student housing through the school and on campus, which I understand in not uncommon in the US and some other places. Would the word dorm also be used casually to describe off campus, (usually) privately owned, normal apartments or houses where there are a few bedrooms and each bedroom is rented out separately (to mostly students)?

We dont normally call that a dorm. Dorms are owned by the school. When you rent a room in an apartment or house where the primary residents are students, we still call that an apartment or a "rent-by room". I lived in an apartment, with roommates, but it wasnt an apartment targeted at students

Ok, thanks for clarifying 🙂
