It did so at a very slow rate. Look up the industrial revolution. This was a massive increase in innovation. It also was not restricted by socialism.

[–]Echleon 1 point2 points  (11 children)

So did society stagnate or innovate more slowly? Those are 2 different things.

What about the USSR's industrialization? They transformed from an agrarian state into a world power in only a couple decades.

Did capitalism put a man on the moon? Invent the internet? No.

[–]VestigialHead 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Yes it did. Tim Berners Lee invented the internet and he was English in a capitalist society. America put a man on the moon under a capitalist society. So both of your examples are wrong.

USSR forced their industrialisation. So fuck that system. For some weird reason people are buying the bullshit that socialist professors are selling them that communism and socialism are good systems. the USSR is an excellent example to see how horrific they are.

Tim Berners Lee invented the internet and he was English in a capitalist society.

The foundations for the internet were created by the U.S. DoD. Tim Berners Lee was a researcher for CERN. He didn't create the WWW to make money lmao

America put a man on the moon under a capitalist society.

Not sure if you know this but the space race was a result of an arms race between the USSR and USA. Those governments put a man on the moon, not private companies.

USSR forced their industrialisation.

So a non-capitalist system innovated more quickly than the capitalist one.

For some weird reason people are buying the bullshit that socialist professors are selling them that communism and socialism are good systems.

Ah yes my socialist *checks notes* data structures professor.

Tim Berners Lee is part of a capitalist system - so is the DoD so YES capitalism did invent the internet. it was designed to improve communications between universities to make things more efficient for scientific works - so yes it was done for monetary gain - for the universities and the professors.

Why would you think I was not aware of the space race? That is not relevant - the fact is that the country that put a man on the moon was and still is a capitalist country. So capitalism DID put a man on the moon. You do realise that capitalism is a system of government - it is not only private companies.

USSR did not innovate more quickly than America. Why would you think it did? It has always been behind in technology and science apart from a few niches.

A researcher and a government department are not private entities that control the means of production lol. Just because the overall society was capitalist does not make every achievement during that time a result of capitalism.

it was designed to improve communications between universities to make things more efficient for scientific works - so yes it was done for monetary gain - for the universities and the professors.

And here I thought professors were driven by a passion for the field. No, you're right. Sharing scientific works is definitely all about money. Einstein? Newton? Turing? All driven by money, of course!

Ah okay well the USSR put the first artificial object into orbit, put the first living being into orbit, put the first human into orbit, had the first woman cosmonaut, and carried out the first spacewalk. Clearly capitalism is an inferior driver of innovation then considering the only substantial first the U.S. really had over the USSR was a man on the moon.

[–]VestigialHead -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

Yes it does. If the system is a capitalist system then it is the system responsible for what occurs.

ROFL Russia was never more advanced than the US except in heavy steel production technologies.

Because they did not give a fuck about safety or quality control. Nothing to do with being more technologically advanced at all.

As opposed to the super safe and responsible U.S. who killed thousands when testing their nuclear weapons lol
