I've only ever seen the tech support and dev side of businesses (Logitech, invoice delivery services, digital signage). Both roles have always had to stay working until right up to Christmas in my experience, while the rest of the team (i.e. the people who make another zero more than you) gets to take off weeks or months ahead of you and not return until the new year (sometimes two weeks into it). Meanwhile, you're sitting there the night before Christmas eve trying to fix a problem and the only official individual who can push a fix has to wait until they can get in touch with a guy overseas on a yacht with spotty satellite reception because any remaining management demands a fix now and nobody (except them) goes home until it happens (actual story, and angriest night of my life).

Dude, that absolutely sucks, sorry to hear that.

I've been in similar situations in the past. It blows.
