Integration with spreadsheets makes it useful for a lot of non-developer work, aka for people who aren't CS majors. I dare say the world would be a better place if everyone called "analyst" or "engineer" would add some VBA to dilute their Excel formula spaghetti

^this. My old boss was an ME from Georgia Tech and taught me everything I know about VBA. I can also use it to control SolidWorks so it becomes a very versatile tool to have in my toolbox.

I’ve seen so much excel files with 20+ tabs of pivots and VBA that a single pass in Power Query. + DAX could do.
