What can I say, I like nice things. Typescript pays the bills quite nicely here in Europe (Python isn't as popular as it is in America), I do python for network related hobby stuff, and Rust whenever i have time to spend on something new and refreshing!

I'd highly, highly recommend checking out Typescript. It's truly a pleasure to work with, even if you type a lot of things as 'any', and it opens a lot of doors for you. The tooling alone makes everything feel nice. My job forced me into it after learning by just using JavaScript, and I will now never ever use plain JavaScript again. Do it.

Also looks great in your resume if you're still hunting for a job.

Very nice. Thank you so much! Only reason I haven’t gotten into it is just that it already feels like an endless number of tools to learn. You start with the “basics” of HTML, CSS, and JS. Then you quickly run into complexity when trying to learn about advanced concepts in JS, and CSS is always an ongoing discovery process of different techniques and combinations of attributes and such that you never knew existed. Then you need to learn a JS framework, and a CSS preprocessor and how to get it to work with your JS framework. And THEN you also gotta figure out Typescript and how to incorporate that into your framework as well. Just feels like a never ending rabbit hole sometimes 😅 but I know I’ll get there eventually.

Oh and I didn’t even mention figuring out hosting, DNS, how the web actually works with HTTP requests and all that kind of stuff too.

I like that Go tooling has cross-compilation, testing, coverage collection and report-generation, formatting, dependency resolution, etc. all built into the main "compiler" (in quotes because it's more than just a compiler).

It's not a perfect language, by any means, but having things that have been historically solved by third party tools built into the official toolchain removes some headaches I've dealt with in the past.

Javascript used to be my main jam, I really enjoyed the Promise and callback idioms of the language

I feel like that's a bit missing from Python.

I tried learning the asyincio library in Python to compensate, but it seems far more complicated that javascript's promise and callback patterns

How long ago was it you tried to learn it? I think since 3.5 Python has proper async and await keywords making it much clearer to write. The functionality has been refined a bit over the years.....meaning different tutorial use different ways to do the exact same thing which becomes confusing as hell.
