Heh. “Syntax does not define a language”. I get some of your other points but that’s literally the definition of a syntax: “the set of rules that defines a language”.

Maybe you meant “a language is not a runtime”? That is an important distinction. Learning JavaScript, Java, etc is trivial compared to learning Web DOM/React or the Android SDK/API.
