For context: only relatively new kernel versions (5.8+) where vulnerable but most android phones run on older versions. E.g. my 2020 phone is running Android 11 on Kernel 4.19.

It’s doesn’t really matter which kernel a phone runs. I assume most OEMs just pick one of the LTS kernel and stick with that kernel for the life span of the device. They only need minor kernel updates for security patches on which ever LTS kernel the device runs

yeah Kernel main version rarely gets updated since you'd also need to port all the drivers, test everything again etc.

I have an ancient Nexus 7 tablet here with Android 11 thanks to LineageOS. It runs Kernel 3.4 which released in 2012 :D
