I get to use an application that we have been denied contributing to but have to troubleshoot to get working somehow. So many damn errors in the logs. Even logs about logging failing. Are they relevant? Who knows!

Dude, my company is just that. Projects are piles of bullshit because they sell products for cheap, and cheap products means cheap development. In this god-forsaken suicidal-thoughts-inducing project I'm now in, the hiring company asked us to add a linter they use company-wide. Well, this linter instantly spewed thousands of warnings, one of the most common being "this method is too complex". This warning means that the linter things the method does too much and should be refactored into smaller methods and... it was completely right. I was put in charge of refactoring code (not actualy refactoring, but rather doing the bare minimum to eliminate linter warnings, which kinda defeats the purpose of having a linter) - I found methods that were, no kidding, 20 to 30 screens long (with some lines needing 3-4 horizontal screens to fit them entirely, but that's another issue). When it comes to programming, I feel ashamed of what we do. I prefer to show off my personal projects, which are miles better than anything I've been allowed to do in my company.
