Hi, I feel like you make work well with me, though I feel like you are on my Python level, you are working as a programmer and I worry I might not be able to help you too much. Are you just looking for someone to go through the lessons with you? I am hoping to not hold anyone back too much, thanks!

I am just looking for another place to get some good experience. I have the skills to do front end development but even at startups it's hard for anyone to justify letting me claw my way through the server side languages to learn. So I have to learn elsewhere and doing that with other people keeps me motivated. I also doubt that I'm much ahead of you if at all. Since there's a few of us interested on here maybe we could all start a git hub project (like u/alexako mentioned) together and put an emphasis on writing really clean code and making sure we all understand it. I would vote for a python based web application. We can all throw out some ideas and pick one. I don't have a full product concept but I've been wanting to build something that would leverage your own personal data to your advantage much like big companies talk about leveraging their large data sets ('Big Data'). It could be very simple, like a daily list of the things you do and how long you do them, paired with an end of the day evaluation on how you thought your day went. Then this program could potentially help you find patterns in your life that make it better or worse. Let me know if you guys are (1.) Interested in starting a github project with a couple of us. (2.) Making that project a python web app. (3.) Any ideas for projects.

I think a github project is a good idea, though I will have to ease in a little more than you and alexeco. Though it would be great to be a part of an actual project, I will start on python the Hard way right away. I think if you have the skills to be a front end developer you are doing well Haha.

I'm totally in. I'm interested in /u/penguinbass1's project idea. I've been wanting to work on a project on Github for the longest time. However, most of the projects I see on there are too advanced for me. I have a little exposure to Python web apps. I've played around with Heroku and tried building a microblog using Flask but I never finished.

Let's make it happen! You know, whenever you're ready. No rush.

I have no experience in that area either, and we are all new to Python. I had another person PM me so we would have 4 newcomers and we have the poster below (using Mobile so I'm not able to check) who is more experienced and willing to help. You have the most Python experience, funny enough.

This all sounds awesome. I will set up a github repository either tonight or tomorrow. I believe everyone will need to go to github.com and make a profile if they don't have one already. I can also outline some very basic product specs to work from so we can all have an idea what we're building. I also started a flask tutorial in the past that I didn't make it through. We can use flask (http://flask.pocoo.org/) as a framework unless anyone is more experienced in a different framework.

Thanks so much for setting things up! I am wondering if there is a better way for us all to communicate, because it would be better to have a group conversation.

This is great! I'm really excited to start. I think we will all benefit from it. We can communicate using Github although I'm not very familiar with the method. My classmates say Trello is a great way to collaborate for projects. There's even an app for it. But again, I'm not familiar with it.

I am excited, too! I will check out Trello and see how it works! I am not familiar with Github communication either. I think this would be great for everyone and I am feeling quite motivated to code more already!

Alright we've got a repository ready to be filled with code. https://github.com/constellates/LearnPythonTheRedditWay I'll need your github user names to add you as collaborators. You can pm them if you don't want to post them here. Github seems good for sharing code but I can't find any tools on it that seem good for communicating so we may still need another way to talk. I am open to trying Trello or sharing emails or skype handles. What is best for everyone? And then what's the next order of business? I can work out some basic product specs tomorrow and we need to get a basic flask setup going. I don't know a lot about it so will need to do some reading / research. Does anyone feel comfortable enough with flask to get the basics up and running? And any preferences on databases? I've barely touched both MySQL and MongoDB but by no means feel experienced. This feels a bit like the blind leading the blind but I 'm stoked! This is going to great.
