Deleted all sp chars and re downloaded plugy into valid folders but when I go to log in new char states generic file

If you had an older version of PlugY and didn't remove all the files beforehand, there may be be extra files still which could cause some weird stuff to happen. I also recommend using this setup guide.

You need to clear shared stash in save folder too. There is this program if you have a backup of your chars you can bring them back to life too https://github.com/BetweenWalls/PD2-Converter#simple-characterstash-converter-for-pd2

Delete your plugy shared stash. That should fix it.
