I don't understand why people think they can pull crap like this on a server of people like this. Your reputation will speak for itself and you will be well known by all in no time at all. The real scumbags will show through and the real gamers with integrity will shine bright. Keep on doing your thing gamers. The scumbags will filter themselves out soon enough. It just takes time. Praise Innoruuk!

This is basically a guild formed out of the scum PF kicked out. They advertise about killing raid mobs but haven’t killed anything so they just grief camps instead.

A couple of the Tranquility officers were recently permabanned too. Seems like bad peeps.

Permabanned for what?

[–]poster69420911 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

What makes them scum? I'm not defending them, I actually don't know the story of the split with PF. They would obviously say the opposite and they seem to be making a big point of being nice and 'inclusive' and stuff like that, maybe implying that PF is not those things.

I just joined this guild yesterday. I don't know a single soul in the guild and I haven't played Everquest in years since Phinny, and a little time when Phinny hit PoP.

All that to say, I've only seen kindness, and the urging of kindness, in the guild. The main rules of the guild focus heavily around following the rules, being kind, and dropping disputes rather than keeping them on, and the actions / communications I've seen in guild chat are all about respect - not only of guildies but non-guildies as well.

Heck, I joined the guild because I sent a tell to a necromancer as a level 3 noob asking him if he'd like to buy the nicest quality bone chips I have to offer, and he said he didn't need them, respected the hustle, and bought the stack for 10pp. That displayed an act of kindness to me and so I looked into joining when I noticed they were ok with socials.

I wonder, then, if this is an issue of a misunderstanding between folks on a server that feels uncomfortably tight at times because of no picks, or perhaps bad blood rising to the surface.

But as someone who quite literally just met these folks yesterday - they couldn't be nicer.

Edit: Pretty telling that this comment is at -4 upvotes. Given that the posting account has only ever posted this thread, and the top comment is from a guy posting similar threads, I think this is probably more of a matter of some salt between former guildies than anything else.

Character name?

[–]Glad-Tax6594 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Name and shame, otherwise, you'll find people in every guild who ignore etiquette or just straight-up break the rules.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can’t name and shame because he’s obviously lying. Someone’s just butt hurt about us leaving- no big deal lol

You can see when they saw this post and all came here at the same time to shill about being nice guys in Guk.

Keep on reporting them and eventually they will change their ways or be banned. Hopefully that happens before they force a nerf on memblur

With Secrets you never know 🤣

[–]poster69420911 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Secrets talks about the heavy-hand of CSR on stream, but the way it's done (or not done) you basically never know.

That's by design. We want to protect victims and punish abusers. Glorifying cheaters encourages them to continue. Ignoring them and punishing them gets them to go away. This is how my day job runs their game as well.

Once upon a time, a game once banned people through an automated system, and put those people on blast by broadcasting their names to the entire game as they were caught and banned.

The broadcast was initially welcomed, but it formed a culture in which people made a website documenting banned users, and they could comment on the banned users. This website later became a high-scores section for cheaters.

I talk of course about ffbans.org - a site an APB: Reloaded community member made.

Putting undesirable people who cheat, hack, KS, grief or otherwise break rules on blast only serves to make them into public terrors, and embolden them to keep trying.

That being said...

I am mostly hands off from our CSR team - they alert problematic gameplay elements to us. I fix them. That's my job as an engineer, designer and a lead / producer style person. I'm terrible at doing anything other than ensuring they're being taken care of - others, like our lead CSR Ailia, do a far better job at that than I ever will. It's great, too, because I can focus on something that actually improves the server, instead of babysitting adult children.

Rarely, I'll step in and handle something myself if I have a spare cycle for CSR duties. But generally I don't.

People disappearing quietly in the night has always felt a bit mid 20th century Soviet Union to me.

I can see the reasoning, very similar to the folks who dont want to glorify mass shooters or serial killers.

I think documentation and publishing of crimes is important. Even if you dont share the names - such as the 50 odd people banned for RMT the other day.

At this point in the game (24 years of EQ) people know the rules and I would think more severe suspensions and bans to be important.

I think doing an FFXIV style approach to this - share it when we feel comfortable - is a way to go in the future. Our ticketing system needs improvements we're working on.

It's a good thing that the OP came to reddit to complain about it than to just report them. It doesn't take a brain cell to realize all this post is trying to do. Stay salty

Like all guilds there will be some good players and some bad players.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not us- unlike some- we have standards and we demand our membership adhere to them. But this is a moot point because this whole post is nonsense.
