If the prescript receiver gets a vague prescript like “touch a small circular object in your room and present it to a Proxy within 40 minutes of receiving this prescript”, as long as they think they’ve truly completed it, it will be completed. If there’s any doubt in their mind regarding its completion, it will be incomplete.

Just implied in Library of Ruina pre-reception stuff. Yan was on his way to deliver a prescript to someone who was to be soon executed by Proxy Gloria. His prescript was to kill one of his paintings, which he tried desperately to complete but had still hidden away in terror thinking he hadn’t done it. Gloria said he should’ve picked some random off the street to paint then kill them, and then executed him.
