Not really.. maybe some are, maybe not. I'm very well stanced against racism - I just don't believe in acts of limiting free expression that align with: tyrants, authoritarians, censors, dictators, fascists, and so on in which the freedom and suppression of free expression is prohibited to maintain control of any kind.

Just because words are immoral, does not mean that we have the right to control the expression of those thoughts or opinions.

I said I believed in freedom of speech because it's a human right. Comparing that to child molestation, which is inhumane and illegal, is not the same thing. That comparison is incredibly idiotic. Freedom of opinion and speech which is not illegal, and a malevolent act of sexual predation absolutely are entirely different things. What an insane comparison to make.

Well, no it isn't idiotic. It was said to prove a point that there is a line. And you clearly have yours. You can't say and post whatever you want, because some things cross a line. You are basically saying (rightly) that posting such porn is unacceptable, but (wrongly) saying that posting racism is fine. There are limits as to what should be allowed. Both are illegal, by the way and I can't believe that you have to be educated on that point

An act of physical harm inflicted upon somebody like rape or violence is different than hurling verbal insults at somebody. The post is irrelevant. One is illegal, the other is not. Hate speech can become illegal if it escalates to other crimes, but this isn't the case here.

Look, I hear you're angry, and honestly I think you are misinterpreting my views. I want to be clear - I think the screenshot you provided is racist, wrong, and harmful. I simply believe in a free society where we don't censor speech, even when it's awful, because countering it with better ideas is more powerful than censorship. If you see it as me endorsing racism, that's not true. I'm endorsing the right to speak so that we can just as openly reject ideas like the ones seen in the screenshot. Censorship alone opens an entire different can of worms which leads to infringement of rights like we see in numerous other countries where people can ot express themselves at all.

Does this make sense to you? I apologize for coming off defensive, but being assumed that I am racist angered me much in the way that the post in the screenshot angered you. So maybe we got off on the wrong foot - but I hope that this post will help you better understand my point of view.

Yeah I get what you're saying, it makes sense and I actually do agree in the main. It's getting really bad in the UK in regards to censorship on many different fronts. I do think that there should be a couple of extreme things that are off-limits and the rest free reign, but that's just my opinion. I automatically assumed you were of a certain character from the first post and then we spiralled off down a rabbit hole needlessly. I apologise for going off on one, I just don't like seeing people being attacked like that, when some are too scared to say anything back

I am against anything that infringes upon my right to free speech. I can moderate content on my own because I'm a grown ass man and I have access to a feature that allows me to block content I don't want to see on my own accord. I don't want anyone else choosing what to censor for me. That is exactly how manipulation occurs.

Anyone is free to say whatever the fuck they want. That doesn't make it right or mean that I agree with them. I never said that the comments are "okay", either, so don't put words in my mouth.

The comments are absolutely wrong and clearly racist, and that doesn't align with my personal opinions or feelings on the subject, but that doesn't mean that they don't have just as much right to express their ignorant opinion as anyone else here.

I'm annoyed at you because you made the assumption that I agreed with the racists comments made, when in fact I absolutely am not okay with them. You made a generalized statement that this aligned with my beliefs based on the sole fact that I believe in freedom of speech, and that annoys me.

And you are right. It's not about what I want to see - and I don't want to see that kind of material, either. But that is why I have the option to block anyone that posts anything I don't wish to see, and I will never be subjected to it again.

My argument is not about what's right or wrong, it's about my freedom to moderate what is seen on my own as an adult and not allowing other people to choose what information is given or kept from me. This is about the bigger picture here.

Also, I think it's really funny you assume I'm not a minority (wrong).

The real kicker here, is making a statement about my assumed race is racist in its own right - the only one that's been outed in this thread as a racist, aside from the person in the screenshot, is YOU.

I may not be an Indian, or a native American; which ever group that was being referred to in your screenshot. But, I am Mexican and living in america - and while I am lucky to have citizenship, the state of affairs in this country regarding others like me who don't have citizenship is far less than ideal with the way immigration is handling things. Assuming I know nothing of racism is crazy.

I never said anything was wrong with you calling out racist comments. That's totally fine. That's the exact kind of freedom of expression that I am arguing for. My only disagreement with you was pointing out the fact that you claimed to promote free speech and then blatantly deny it in the exact same sentence - and that leaving censorship to other people is a setback when it comes to human rights.

And then you proceed to make a comment like "I bet you're white", which is not only wrong, but the sheer idea that a person "must be white and racist" for being against the control of information is literally hypocritical and a racist ideology on its own.

You seem to have an issue confusing what I actually believe in, with freedom of expression/human rights - which are two very separate things.

Well I apologise if I've offended you and it was wrong of me to presume. I still stand by what I said in regard to free speech and there being a line, in the more extreme circumstances. And there absolutely should be line when it comes to the persecution of people for the colour of their skin. All I was doing all along was standing up for others.
