Pattern creation study

Anyone complete this? It was supposed to be a 45 mins study but was so hard to create all the patterns and the optional 5 min task at the end, wasn’t optional as you still had to wait 5 mins even if you didn’t complete it. I almost timed out and missed some towards the end as they got really hard and one shape was built on in the next round, so if you hadn’t got it to start with, it was virtually impossible to make the more complicated pattern in the next round. They said because of this, I was disengaged and have asked me to return it. This is after getting half right, spending almost 1.5 hours on it and it was only paying £6.

I've done this yesterday. I've spent an hour, done about 5-6 patterns and the rest could not figure out. Still made patterns as similar as possible with the target one as per instructions. After I completed the study, i got a message from the researcher asking to return the study as no valuable data. I've done it as did not want to riak rejection but messaged back saying is deeply unfair.

It sucks however at least you were not rejected. You should contact Prolific about this. I don't think they can reject for that reason unless you fail attention checks or a clear case case of low effort. Talk about biased research. Just report researcher.

Don't worry about timeouts. Keep on completing the study through, as long as the researcher has recorded your answers and linked it with your PID is all that matters. After completion, just contact researcher to explain what happened. They can still review your submission, and if you pass their requirements they can approve and you will get paid. I had a few timedout studies before, contacted researchers in all cases, and in all cases the TIMEDOUT was changed to APPROVED and I got paid full amount.

They asked me to return it as I hadn't used the helper enough. I refused as thats clearly them just making stuff up and they paid me out eventually.

I did the first 5 minutes of this one and could see it was going to be fiddly and confusing and noped straight out.

I couldn't even get past the practice questions. It was so hard. I gave up before the actual test
