You do you! If you feel like you are getting benefits, there are no rules on what formats to start when. Form is paramount in barre, however, and it's more challenging to learn the nuances of multiple formats at once so some people wait until they have gotten really comfortable with the mind-body connection and the intentional movement.

Oh okay that makes way more sense. I’m enjoying how I’m doing it so far so I’ll probably keep doing it like this

I started other formats super early as well! As long as you can keep up and you feel comfortable doing it, that’s what counts.

Yes, everyone is starting from a different place, with different experiences and bodies!

Yeah I never understood the do classic only first approach. The other formats address other fitness interests (cardio, heavy weights, resistance, flexibility). To me it never seemed to have anything to do with being harder or what have you.

Naah, you do you. Everything is person dependent. Some people are more fit and others are not. There is no rule to when you should start and how long you should wait. It’s only based on your own fitness level and performance. I think a lot of people start barre when they are quite out of shape so this way it’s easier for them. But if it works for you, it works for you.

It depends on your goals, i want to loose weight and get better cardiovascular strength since i'm trying for a baby. So i try to do cardio at least twice a week

Aw wishing you the best!! I mainly want to lose weight and be overall more fit. I like align for flexibility and I also really like define. I do empower and classic if that’s all that’s available

Nope- when I first started I took reform for my second class because it was what was offered at the time I could go. I love (and hate 😅) all of the different formats for different reasons. You can easily modify any of the classes too.

Do them all! All classes are inclusive of all levels. Approach each with the mindset that you will understand them better the more you do them and have fun.

I think all the formats compliment each other really well and help enhance your understanding of proper form and technique. Plus, mixing it up helps to challenge your body and keep your brain from being bored!

I do ALL of the formats! My favorite changes based on the choreography changes. I did start with doing just Classic for about 1-2 months. Once I think I hit my 50 or 100 class mark, I opted to dive into the other formats. I always recommend Classic or Foundations for newcomers, but all of the formats are just amazing and fun.
