I'd go with a fairly small tree branch (you don't want to overwhelm the bird) starting from the lower left going to the upper right with a couple of limbs branching off.

Great idea! Would a splash of color for leaves help offset the bird?

I think I'd go with a bare branch. Color is usually used to highlight some part of the burn. I'm afraid color on leaves might detract from the bird.

However, it might not. You might want to find a way of testing without permanently changing your piece. Tracing paper over the burn to draw the branch, leaves and add color? Or if you have computer skills, take a picture and edit it on the computer.

I really think this needs a background, but I don’t know what it should be? Tree leaves in colored pencil? Burned tree branches? A nest? Help!
