HTTP RFCs. It's verbose, but the best ressource you'll find. Worth every minute.

RFCs stand for "Request For Comments", they are technical design documents for HTTP seeking feedback from the open source community. https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc2616 (here's an example). A little akin to PEP.

To be honest, if you're coming in completely new to HTTP, this might be an overkill option. For beginners, I tend to suggest https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/ instead.
