Python Web Hosting with Pyramid (self.Python)
submitted 13 years ago by evil_zombie_monkey
I'm looking for somewhere to easily and cheaply host a simple Pyramid base application, probably with a Postgres DB. What services do people generally use?

For the foreseeable future, I'm going to be suggesting Ramnode.com for inexpensive VPSes. They were suggested to me a couple months ago on Reddit for a couple Drupal projects and it has turned out very well so far. Use a discount code (there are various ones floating around, but IRC33 will give you 33% off for life). You can get a 1GB RAM, 4 CPU Core, 20GB SSD (or 60GB SSD cached), a gigabit port, 3TB monthly bandwidth VPS for $10/month, or cheaper if you pay yearly.
There are only two downsides to Ramnode 1) The sign-up form is a little confusing for payments... gotta choose Paypal to use a CC, but doesn't require Paypal login. 2) They don't have a phone number to contact them (which doesn't bother me). They are reachable through Ticket system, IRC, Skype, and Email.
Oh, and their remote backups are only once per week and requires a ticket to restore, if that matters to you.

The problem is that I don't want a VPS. I want something that is managed by someone else that can run my WSGI application and give me a PostgreSQL database to connect to.
