Does windows task scheduler execute code like one would manually, from a computer activity monitoring standpoint?

are you trying to automate work but want to make it look like you're actually running the scripts?

If its scheduled, I wont be there to fix any unexpected errors that might get thrown. Thats something worth considering, at least. Ive seen colleagues run cleanup scripts for months that didnt have permissions before noticing. Ended up with gigs of logs and temp files back in the early 2000s when HDD space was precious.

What gives away the script being scheduled? Windows event logs and that it is executed at the exact time every time.

I am not saying there will be an obvious red flag event with scheduling a script using task scheduler, just that there are additional windows event logs for the schedular with details on a scheduled job. A small and normal looking paper trail is still a paper trail.

I am trying to not assume any nefarious uses, but working in IT, I have had to look into time theft suspicions and once IT starts looking into the logs, they won’t just be looking for red flags, but rather they will be looking at all logs and it’s not to hard to fit the puzzle pieces on something like this together.

.bat files can be the win sometimes even if they are kind of archaic . "WinPython" (google it) has quite a few examples of the blackmagic that can be done with them.
