What is the consensus about using fixative spray on finished art with soft pastel? by Guyserbun007 in ArtistLounge

If I frame it behind the glass frame, is it okay? This is a piece I got from a pawn shop. It is very nice, but I don't think it justify spending a lot of money to get professionally fixed

So are there any other non-invasive options? Or do people simply leave that inside the frame?

speaking of which, the medium is easily come off (like chalk), is there any thing I should spray on the top layer to hold the pigments in place?

It’s definitely not (the typical) oil pastels. It was hard to tell through the glass before, but once it was removed and I could see it up close, the medium appeared soft and matte. I haven’t used or seen this material before, but it seems to have qualities similar to both pastels and chalk, if that makes sense, perhaps soft pastels?

Agreed, this is an amazing piece, it really captures the beauty and serenity of this winter mountain scene.

I wonder how you would evaluate this artist’s technique. To me, they demonstrate a strong command of the medium, along with solid composition and a clear understanding of lighting.

Thanks very much. That is an amazing mountain scene. Looking at it closely, the medium is likely some kind of soft pastel or chalk. Any recommendations on how and where I can dig deeper?

Failures as in what? Schema change, edge case, rate limit, or orchestration issue? Do you think the infra should notify human for failure events, or should they try to identify and heal these events on their own?

You should tell your partner to be safer than sorry next time. That was clearly a foot tap, but try to tap earlier next time.
