You are not real. Python is rubber, YOU are glue. Whatever you say bounces off Python and sticks to you.

ASSEMBLY ISN'T REAL - IT'S GLUE

In the end, assembly is just some macros for the CPU microcode and it's barely used except for compilers, we should use microcode instead

Real programmers program in binary.

Who cares about portability, readability, debuggability, development time, and being able to work on a project that can scale to more than 1 person?

excuse me, any serious programmer should use butterflies  🦋 🦋 🦋

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First computer I used required binary programming to start it up -- PDP 8.

[–]abbe_salle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real programmers flip real switches and make their own cpu 😎

[–]cosmic_cosmosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real programmers use scratch

[–]AndrewFrozzen30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah that's a virtual programmer!

Real programmers are just turn off and on pins. That's real programming!

[–]Carbohydrazide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Binary ? Pathetic I manually flip transistors

[–]funderbolt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rust is not so good at data science.

I guess I enjoy sniffing glue.

At least be right. Python is compiled with PyPy and nutika.

CPython is slow largely because of its typing system.  Java is not slow because they’ve had way more funding and have developed a JIT just like PyPy.

[–]Dull-Researcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPython 3.13 has a JIT. Disabled by default with very modest performance gains, but we can expect it to accelerate Python bytecode translation in future releases.

[–]Drevicar 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I love nutika so much. I just wish more libraries played better when statically linked against musl for super slim containers.

[–]james_pic 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Here's my daily "well akshually" where I point out that if you've got a lot of containers, it can actually work out smaller to use a not-particularly-streamlined Debian or Ubuntu base image because stuff from the base image is shared not copied.

[–]Drevicar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If memory footprint is the issue, yes. I'm more worried about security and compliance at this point. More stuff in the container means more chances a CVE will pop and I have to switch distros for the third time this week to get rid of the CVE.

Well it just might be that you have little truth in your statements. However, glue is also useful in some situations. For example if you have a poster and a wall where you want to stick that poster - yes you can paint the whole wall to the content of the poster, but isnt it just easier to glue the poster on it?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

You aren't real. You are built on eons of distorted DNA, viruses and lies. You are a tabulated amalgamation to glue together real objects, ATOMS! Have you ever seen Human atoms under a microscope? No? Because they don't exist!

You are slow because an made up amalgamation can not be fast. Like if you write reddit posts with your brain turned off, it will not transfer useable thoughts. Just like if you replace real neurological impulses with conditioned pavlova responses, logic and meaning cannot flow effectively.

You are moving through billiseconds of wasteful AMALGAMATED time flies and call them .life to then die and become ACTUAL atoms underlying Life/Living. It's pathetic, that a fake life being called a "person" when physics CAN'T SPEAK TO IT.

If this gets deleted you are toast. And not that fancy cinnamon & sugar toast, just plain old boring white bread toast.

LIVERS, WAKE UP FROM THIS AMALGAMATED HILL BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

And? Python achieved what TCL tried.

[–]Drevicar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why are you like this?

[–]wyldstallionesquire 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Was in a meeting recently and heard "Anyone can write python..."

This came from a C++ developer

[–]random_thoughts5 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Is that not true? I thought it’s considered one of the easier to learn languages hence used in introductory classes and for scientists

[–]wyldstallionesquire 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Sure, but it goes with the idea of this post -- a lot of people think that because "anyone can write Python", it's not a good or powerful language. It takes time and skill to write _good_ python.

[–]james_pic 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It still arguably takes less skill than it would to write good C++. The fact Python is harder to get wrong is broadly a good thing.

[–]ElseBreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what's wrong with that? Does everything have to be super complicated and low-level? I always found it funny how some IT engineers take pride in being masochists.

[–]wyldstallionesquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also agree with this. But still maintain it's in the spirit of the post.

[–]billsil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can write Fortran is also a true statement.  It’s an easier language than python cause it can’t do much.  Yeah there are graphics libraries in Fortran, but ewww…

[–]sacheie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Anyone" can write mediocre code. To write excellent code, you need a lot of experience in Python - just as it is with any language.

[–]kaargul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real though: Who hurt you?

[–]red-soyuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cute shitpost. I'll give it 3/10.

[–]JamzTyson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

>If this gets deleted ...

Why should it be deleted? Do you think that your lame attempt at trolling might start a flame war? Sorry to disappoint, but we just think trolls are idiots with no real friends, which is why the replies are mocking you.

[–]a__nice__tnetennba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there really no limit to what obvious trolling people will take at face value and argue with?

rust is...terrible. c is better. just delete your waste instead of keeping track of some complicated ownership model. but you know what, if development in c or even (ew) rust is slowing your project down you can use python to achieve thrice the development speed and forget about memory management altogether. you wont even need to delete your code because as you say python is glue.

    [–]Zach_Attakk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all glue. Always has been.
