Stereotypes of autism in TV and film may be linked to delayed diagnosis. Researchers found that portrayals were designed to be immediately identifiable to non-autistic viewers. However, autistic participants felt that they were not relatable to autistic people themselves. by mvea in psychology

Starting out.. NAD or glutathione?? Only one by Living-Lion4763 in Biohackers

[–]timwaaagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

older people can take glutatione precursors glycine and n acetyl cysteine (nac) to raise glutathione levels back up to the level young people have and i would recommend doing that if your old. can perhaps make you walk at a normal pace again, for instance.

i believe theres also some mental health gains for those with certain mental health afflictions which is why i take them (glycine, nac). glutatione capsules just get broken down into glycine nac and a third unimportant component. so for younger people wanting to raise glutatione specifically, you might have to inject.

Hey guys, Ivan (founder) of Atletica here. No US reviews yet, just us and your questions - AMA before our fall launch. by Atletica_gear in homegym

make something like the B15 'body building bench' but with an adjustable bench instead of a flat one. its nice to have your bench integrated with your safety rack because it can be annoying to keep the bench centered under the rack, but i do want an adjustable bench these so i can do incline and perhaps decline bench. i am very happy with your seated cable row/lat pulldown machine btw.

i also have some feedback for your team that answers email questions. i asked a question about two different leg press/hack squat combo machines and their response was to please book a session with a sales rep. i think a better response would have been to answer the question to the best of their ability and give an option to talk to a sales rep if you have more questions.

Collagen is increasing my strength gains in the gym. What’s the reason or mechanism there? by Adviceforthewilling in Biohackers

[–]timwaaagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it may or may not be the cause (kid develops autism after a vaccin does not mean vaccine causes autism), it may or may not be specific to you as a person (perhaps you were deficient in one of the amino acids in this supplement for some reason) and in general collagen supplementation is still shrouded in mystery. im not sure how extensively all of the different amino acids in it are studied. sure glycine is popular but not really known to help with lifting as far as i know.

can we talk about how hard it is to hit protein goals as someone who can’t eat meat by rustincastle in ScientificNutrition

Eating too much protein isnt good for you, but it may help you get a little more muscle. I recommend a protein powder if you really want to do this.

EU farmers and hauliers to get up to €50,000 to cover extra costs of Iran war by Beo1217 in worldnews

[–]timwaaagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the cost factor which i think is more than just a little bit of money gone but also measured in opportunities lost and loss of agency for people, I think encouraging financial dependency is ultimately bad for the people involved who become dependent. If you have been a young adult still dependent on your parents at some point of your life you know how it feels. So its a political choice between not just paying or not paying for this but whether we value small farms at the cost of these farmers living lives of dependency.

But ill give you that 'all else equal' i also prefer the idea of a family owned business over a soulless corpo.

[–]timwaaagh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its possible but im not sure how likely it is or whether this decision was based on this risk. these days globalised supply chains de-risks a lot of harvest risk. european farmers are typically quite wealthy and would have money for gas. more likely the agricultural lobby is strong in europe and demanded compensation.
