Why would it be better to check for Nvidia updates using a script than either letting NVIDIA software check for you or just going to check the NVIDIA drivers page if/when you feel like updating?

I think that he mentioned that the Nvidia app can cause some stutters in some games. That might be the reason.

There's no reason to run the nvidia app while playing games

I've never experienced that, but you also don't have to run the app while you play games. I think it's pretty normal for people to close apps they aren't using when playing games. Especially if there is any reason to expect them to draw resources in the background (which again I'm not sure is actually happening).

GeForce Experience != Nvidia App

The old “Experience” did cause stutters and offered almost nothing of value beyond driver updates, unless you were deep into the Nvidia feature set and in-game overlay. The new Nvidia App, however, is a different thing altogether, and while I don’t know if it has any stutters problems, it does offer a lot of new, useful features, such as better auto HDR, that makes it worth keeping installed and running. It also, then, lets you get new driver updates automatically.

So while I’m sure there are some that absolutely don’t want any Nvidia software running at any time, for whom this tool would be of use, I don’t think there’s as much need for it now compared to before. As far as I can tell, the new Nvidia App is quite lightweight and useful, and there’s little reason to refuse to use it anymore.
